"Terry's Left Eye"

"Terry's Left Eye", 3/4" diameter (shown actual size), egg tempera on Kelmscott vellum

"Terry's Left Eye" enlarged for detail

Here is an eye portrait I just completed of my friend Terry Sebastian.  I shared high school art classes with Terry, and this month she has been taking special care of her mother who is very ill with cancer.  See more about Terry and her special prayer for her mother on my portrait blog

Here's a link you might enjoy, to a delightful collection of antique eye miniatures!

Another blog? I don't know how you have time to manage them all, but I'm glad you do! Your work is beautiful - no matter whose eyes you look at it through!re

I had tryed to paint into a small frame (5/8" square) so I used my wife's eye. Oil was a challenge. Your great work of using the eye gets me trying to try it again. Love your work. Join our miniatureart group in Yahoo. Lots of great artists in here. Jim Smith Owner
Any way, love your work!!

Love your work!! The use of the eye is great!! I had tryed that with a 5/8" frame so I use my wifes eye. I used oil so it was a challenge. Watercolor would be another choice.

Thanks Deb.

Jim, thanks so much for taking a look, and for your kind words about my work. I love hearing that it gets you into the mood to paint another eye, and would love to see the one you painted in oil. I'd like to try it in oil too!
